All the pre-loved garments are carefully chosen by us in second-hand stores and markets all over the world. Ana is always keeping an eye out for “blank canvases” when thrifting, even when travelling. She makes sure all pieces are made of good quality materials, they feel nice to the touch and they are perfect for entering the next cycle of their life. She likes to think of herself as a “thrifting wizz”, loves to find hidden gems and do them justice.

Each piece gets carefully picked up at the thriftstore. It is then washed and tended with care. Mending is performed where needed. Sometimes parts are replaced (zippers, buttons, closures). Then the “Recarnation” begins and the garment gets its transformation - through partial reconstruction, shape alteration, addition of custom prints, embroideries, fabric manipulations or surface decorations, sometimes through merging with other garments. Each piece tells us what to do to it. Each piece is unique.

Yes! All pieces are unique. This comes from two reasons: 1. all pieces are thrifted, one by one, not in “bulk”, and 2. we believe that each piece “tells us” how to transform it. Our prints, embroideries and transformation techniques may repeat themselves, but results will never be identical. We think that’s the beauty of it.

This also means that you may love a piece, but it's not necessarily going to be in your size. Don’t be sad! Keep an eye out for the next product drop! Or message us and we will do our best to reproduce a piece in your size when the right “canvas” falls into our hands.

Keep in mind thatt Recarnation pieces are very size inclusive and most of the time adjustable. *Our sizing system is NOT a stric one.*

Absolutely! If you have a piece you love, but it is too damaged or it does not fit anymore, send it over, and we can give it a new life!

We can rework it into something else, keeping its essence, or we can give it a full makeover. We can also mend it, keeping the “scars” visible, to cherish the life full of love your garment has lived.

We are always on the lookout for pieces we can save from the landfill. If you send us pre-loved garments for us to flip at “Recarnation”, we will offer you 10% discount on your next purchase on our website. Check out the “Donated garments” guide before mailing them to us.

It’s never easy to set prices consistently when the starting point of each up-cycling project is so different. If a garment requires more care, it’s unfair to price it higher than garments that started out almost intact and did not need any mending, if the results are similar, so we always try to balance things out. The prices are usually a result of adding up mending & extra materials costs + time spent on the piece, but it is never a “fixed” recipe.
